A $40 Cocktail Shaker?! Are You @#$%&! Kidding Me?!

More money than sense? Some might say that. Mrs. Questionable has definitely said that. This was one of my first Kickstarter backed campaigns and came at a time when I was starting to get into craft cocktails and small-batch bourbons. Having spent a few years bartending in college (shout out Ruby Tuesdays!), I had a fair amount of experience with cocktail shakers of all makes and sizes. The plastic ones cracked and leaked. The metal ones would freeze up and get stuck. Elevated Craft found their target audience when their Kickstarter ads hit my algorithm.

For starters, it's a beautiful product and a welcome addition to any home bar. High quality engineering and materials, perfectly designed to make and serve delicious cocktails at home. The screw top and seal makes for a leakproof experience, but also means it's easy to open and close, no longer freezing up like the traditional thin metal shakers. Plus the top cap with built in strainer makes for easy pours while keeping ice or pulp inside the shaker. The shaker top also has clearly marked measurement rings for pouring the perfect mix of ingredients right into the shaker. We’ve mixed up batches of cocktails and thrown the shaker into a bag like a thermos. Hours later the cocktails were still cold … and still all in the shaker.

Mrs. Questionable likely won’t admit it, too hung up on the $40 price tag, but I’ve not heard her complain while she’s using the shaker, and coincidentally, we’ve gifted these to plenty of friends and members of her family over the years.
