You bought that?!

Just some of the random, awesome, and yes sometimes stupid, things I buy.

Starrybot standing on pool coping, wet blue head on compass mosaic

The Pool DustBuster

Mrs. Questionable Approved

We have the Dolphin Nautilus pool robot and we love it (review for another day), but just like having a Shark home vacuum, there are times that it's just easier to get that one pile of dirt in the corner with the DustBuster. Enter the Starrybot.

Yellow R36S handheld in two hands, pixel game on screen

The Quintessential Questionable Gadget

Mr. Questionable Approved

I didn’t need an R36S handheld gaming device. I don’t have time for playing hours of video games. But at one time I had the time. And once upon a time I used to dream about having a handheld device for playing all my favorite games. And I love classic Atari, Nintendo, Sega and arcade games. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Ninja Slushi running with lime slush

Yeah, We Really Did Buy That … and I Want Another

Mrs. Questionable Approved

We love Ninja. They make great products. They aren’t cheap, but you are often getting some of the best made and best performing products in their categories when you buy a Ninja appliance. And so while we already owned a lot of Ninja household tools, I was blissfully unaware of the Ninja Slushi FS301 until we were introduced to it by one of our river neighbors. Turns out a frozen mimosa slushi doesn't need to do much to sell itself.

Green Belly hot sauce poured on a steak taco

Some Like it Hot! Green Belly Hits the Spot!

Mr. Questionable Approved

I buy a lot of hot sauces. I love hot sauces. My digestive system however appears to be siding with Mrs. Questionable more and more these days. Regardless, new bottles of hot sauce continue to make their way into my home — I’m a sucker for a great looking label and bombastic flavor descriptions. I’m not a cover everything in hot sauce kind of guy. I like to find a hot sauce that complements the flavor of whatever I’m eating. Just the right sauce to add to my tacos or pour over my eggs or as the perfect tortilla chip dip. I value flavor over heat, but if you want to stick around my kitchen, taste great AND make me sweat, I want my mouth dancing for at least 15 minutes after I stop eating.

Certainly not any royalties.

Full stainless Elevated Craft cobbler cocktail shaker

A $40 Cocktail Shaker?! Are You @#$%&! Kidding Me?!

Mr. Questionable Approved

More money than sense? Some might say that. Mrs. Questionable has definitely said that. This was one of my first Kickstarter backed campaigns and came at a time when I was starting to get into craft cocktails and small-batch bourbons. Having spent a few years bartending in college (shout out Ruby Tuesdays!), I had a fair amount of experience with cocktail shakers of all makes and sizes. The plastic ones cracked and leaked. The metal ones would freeze up and get stuck. Elevated Craft found their target audience when their Kickstarter ads hit my algorithm.

White frosted-glass barn door half open into a checkered bathroom

Shut the Front Door! A Barn Door Kit That’s Easy to Assemble and Looks Great

Mrs. Questionable Approved

We did a soft-remodel on the ensuite bathroom at our riverhouse — new vanity, new backsplash, new paint, etc. Didn’t want to break the bank and this was a DIY job. Our previous bathroom door opened up into the bathroom, making a small bathroom feel and function even smaller. Pulling off the old door and installing a sliding barn door was just the ticket to give us some more usable space and help the look and feel of our bathroom.

Don’t Throw Out Those Old CDs! Hang Them on Your Wall!

Mrs. Questionable Approved

It's probably due to the power of music that so many gadgets and great innovations are focused on bringing music to people in new ways or in recapturing the music experiences of old. The CoolGeek M1 Bluetooth 5.0 CD Player has been one of my favorite purchases in the last couple of years and is a stylish and cool way to relive my youth and repurpose my old CD collection.
